Our story
Cooked by hand, by people who care.
A small-plate British seasonal restaurant in East London, run by chef Mia Okafor since 2022. We cook modern British food from what's good that week — generous, unfussy plates meant for sharing, in a warm, candle-lit room of around 35 covers.
Meet Mia Okafor
Mia trained in the kitchens of some of London’s best modern British restaurants before deciding she wanted something smaller and more personal — a place where she knew every supplier, every regular, and every dish on the pass.
She opened The Foundry Kitchen in 2022 in a converted workshop on Old Brewery Way, Walthamstow. The name is a nod to the building’s past, and to the way she cooks: heat, patience, and turning honest raw materials into something worth sitting down for.
Mia still cooks every service. If you eat here, the food on your plate has passed through her hands.
— Mia Okafor, chef-owner since 2022
What we believe
Seasonal, always
We write the menu around what's good that week. Vegetables from the market, fish from day boats, meat from farms we can name.
Made by hand
Stocks reduced overnight, bread proved in-house, sauces built to order. Nothing arrives in a bag — everything is cooked here, by us.
A room with a heart
Thirty-five covers, candlelight, and a team that remembers your name. Small enough to care about every plate that leaves the pass.
Come and eat with us.
Book a table for the full experience, or order in and bring the kitchen home.
